Jim O'Connell
Managing Partner
Jim is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Grove Investments. Prior to founding Grove, he was the President of Partners Asset Management, the investment firm of Jeff Vinik and his family. Jim is a member of the Board of Trustees of Wake Forest University, where he serves on the Investment Committee. He also serves on the Board of Managers at Verger Capital Management. Jim holds a B.A. in Politics and International Affairs from Wake Forest University, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He received M.A. degrees in History and Religious Studies from University of Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.

Mark Gruetzmacher
Managing Partner
Mark is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Grove Investments. Prior to founding Grove, he was the Head of Legal at Royal Markets Inc., an investment platform for royalties. Mark began his career practicing law at Kirkland & Ellis, where he concentrated on complex commercial matters and appeals. He clerked for Judge Charles R. Wilson on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Mark holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Religious Studies from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served as Articles Editor of the Virginia Law Review.

Jeff Vinik
Senior Advisor
Mr. Vinik is the Owner and Chairman of the Tampa Bay Lightning, a Stanley Cup-winning National Hockey League franchise. In addition, Mr. Vinik is the founder and Chairman of Partners Asset Management, an investment firm based in Tampa, Florida. He and his wife, Penny, jointly run the Vinik Family Foundation, which makes grants in the arts and education.
Mr. Vinik has worked in the investment management business his entire career, beginning at Fidelity Investments in 1986. From 1992 to 1996, Mr. Vinik ran the Fidelity Magellan Fund, at the time the world’s largest mutual fund. In 1996, he left Fidelity to establish his own firm, Vinik Asset Management, a long-short hedge fund (~$10bn AUM). Mr. Vinik earned his B.S. degree in Engineering from Duke University, Phi Beta Kappa, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He has served on the boards of Duke University, the United Way of Massachusetts Bay, the United States Figure Skating Foundation, and the Florida Council of 100.
